Take the road to the coast in direction of Salinas. When you arrive to Santa Elena (a village before Salinas) follow the turn-off to Montañita (it’s signalized). The road will continue along the sea towards the north. The beautiful ride goes on until the village of Puerto Rico where you’ll see the sign “LA BARQUITA”. Approximated distance: 235km

From the terminal terrestre take the direct bus (of the company CLP) to Santa Elena, departure every 30 minutes. From there take a bus in direction of Puerto Lopez and ask the bus driver to stop at Puerto Rico (LA BARQUITA)

The journey is splendid, the road from Guayaquil to Santa Elena cuts through a Steppe of Ceibos, esthetically magnificent trees absolutely worth photographing. The rest of the distance from Santa Elena to the BARQUITA is along the shore, so on the left-hand side you will see the Pacific Ocean which practically baths the bus and on your right the incredible variety of the tropical vegetation. From Manta or Portoviejo take a taxi or the bus in the direction of Puerto Lopez and ask the driver to let you off in Puerto Rico (LA BARQUITA). Approximated distance: Quito-Puerto Lopez 635km /Manta-Puerto-Lopez 120km/ Puerto Lopez-Puerto Rico 15km
